Canary Islands is Adel Masumian’s first film as a director. He previously worked as an assistant on several home theater projects, including “Your Excellency,” “Dancing on the Glass,” “Matador,” and more. Now, he is the writer and producer of the work alongside Hossein Mahkam.
Canary Islands is a comedy film, and this can be clearly seen from the film poster itself. Pejman Jamshidi, as a co-star of most comedy works, is depicted on the film poster on a cherry blossom arrow, and Behrang Alavi, Bijan Banafshekhah, and Roya Miralami are the main actors of the film.
Using Alavi and Banafshekhah as the film’s main couple for the first time in Iranian cinema was an attractive idea that made the audience follow the film and watch the sweet and funny banter of these two actors.
The film has creative and funny new ideas, and this can be traced in the narrative ideas and dialogues, in addition to the choice of actors, from Behrang Alavi and Bijan Banafshekhah to Jamshidi and Mir Alami in new roles.
